Artisan Chocolate Making in Cuyabeno: From Cacao to Your Own Chocolate Bar

Discover the aromas and flavors of Amazonian cacao through our artisan chocolate-making activity at Green Forest Ecolodge. This hands-on experience invites you to learn where chocolate comes from and create your own chocolate bar during your visit to Cuyabeno.

This activity is included in all our tour packages, and no advance request is required. Your guide will schedule it during your stay.

Discover Cacao and Its Transformation

The experience begins with an introduction to Amazonian cacao: how it grows, how its pods are harvested, and what happens to the beans before they become chocolate.

You will learn about the importance of fermentation and drying, two stages that help develop cacao’s aromas and flavors. You will then take part in the chocolate-making process with the support of our guides.

Make Your Own Chocolate

During the activity, you will discover and take part in the main preparation stages:

  • Roasting: learn how heat transforms the beans and releases their aromas.
  • Grinding: help turn the roasted cacao beans into a paste.
  • Mixing: add your choice of the natural ingredients available.
  • Molding and decorating: shape your own chocolate bar and give it a personal touch.
  • Tasting: try the chocolate you have made and enjoy the results.

At the end, you can take your chocolate bar with you as a souvenir of your experience in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

An Experience for the Senses

The aroma of roasted cacao, the texture of the paste, and the taste of freshly made chocolate make this activity an enjoyable opportunity to learn.

Whether you are visiting as a couple, with family or friends, or traveling solo, it is a chance to spend time together, experiment with ingredients, and discover another side of the Amazon through its flavors.
