Day 1

Ecuadorian Amazon adventure begins

The tour begins at Cuyabeno Bridge, the entrance to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Production Reserve, at 11:00 am, where you will meet our naturalist guide.

There are three ways to reach this point: private transportation, public bus, or private vehicle. Our team can assist you in arranging private transportation from Quito.

From the bridge, we will begin a two-hour motorized canoe ride, heading deep into the Amazon rainforest. During the journey, you will hear the sounds of nature, admire the stunning landscape, and observe birds, monkeys, and other wildlife, while your guide shares valuable information about the region’s flora and fauna.

Upon arrival at Green Forest Ecolodge, we will enjoy lunch, followed by check-in and room assignments.

In the afternoon, we will visit Laguna Grande de Cuyabeno in search of pink dolphins and other species, one of the most iconic spots in the reserve. On our way back to the lodge, we will take part in a night wildlife observation, where we may spot birds, caimans, and, with some luck, boas.

At the end of the day, we will gather for dinner and a brief informational talk about the activities planned for the following days in the reserve.

Day 2

Discover Ecuador's Rainforest in Cuyabeno

After breakfast (9:00 am), we will travel by motorized canoe or traditional killa canoe to the starting point of a trail, where we will enjoy a 2 to 3-hour hike through primary rainforest. During the walk, you will learn about medicinal plants as well as the unique flora and fauna of the Amazon.

After lunch (2:00 pm), you may relax by the river. We provide kayaks for those who would like to paddle, or you can simply unwind in one of our hammocks. Later, we will take part in an artisanal chocolate-making activity at the lodge.

In the evening, we will go on a night walk to observe Amazonian wildlife, including insects and other fascinating species active after dark.

We will end the day with a delicious dinner (8:00 pm) at the lodge.

Day 3

Visit to the community and Laguna Grande

After breakfast, we will travel by canoe to a nearby trail (approximately 25 minutes away). From there, we will walk to the Siona Indigenous community, where you will learn about their traditions, customs, and way of life.

You will learn how to prepare traditional casabe, a flatbread made from cassava, taste local fruits and regional specialties, and share lunch within the community. We will also experience a spiritual ceremony with the shaman, who will share his ancestral wisdom and his vision of the natural and spiritual world.

There will be time to purchase handicrafts made by members of the community.

In the afternoon, we will visit Laguna Grande de Cuyabeno to enjoy a refreshing swim and admire the breathtaking Amazon sunset.

We will end the day with a comforting dinner at the lodge.

Note: If you prefer not to visit the community, this activity can be replaced with a full-day jungle experience, including alternative exploration activities. If you choose this option, it must be communicated at the time of booking, as prior coordination is required.

Day 4

Cuyabeno Adventure

We will visit the surroundings of the Reserve to observe birds in a traditional Amazonian jungle wooden canoe ride called "Quilla" and also to the Canangueno Lagoon.

Canoeing is a quiet and peaceful activity that offers an excellent opportunity to observe birds and monkeys along the banks of the river, passing through different types of landscapes. You will also have the chance to kayak in the black waters of the Cuyabeno River.

We will continue in the afternoon to one of the most famous lakes of Cuyabeno.

During this excursion, you will feel at ease while swimming, and you may encounter some of the friendliest creatures of the river: the pink dolphins.

Day 5

Cuyabeno to Civilization

Very early in the morning (6:30 a.m.), we will go bird watching downstream, an excellent opportunity to appreciate the Amazonian biodiversity in the early hours of the day.

Afterwards, we will return to the lodge to enjoy breakfast and then begin our journey back down the Cuyabeno River to the bridge, marking the end of our services.
